the
Monkey Grass (Liriope) is putting on a purple show in my woodland garden right now.
i have used it to soften the border of these gardens with a lush frame,
and to visually LEAD the EYE around the graceful curves of the beds.
repeating this plant throughout, pulls the garden together and creates a restful feel.
a harmonious drift of calming color and texture.

paths bordered by monkey grass leave no doubt which way to tread...
and puts the traveler at ease...

Beautiful ...all that purple !!!....wishing you a happy weekend enjoy !!!! ....love Ria....
Gorgeous garden Erin and such a good example of repetition. Garden are places where repetition really makes it. The monkey grass really provides a sense of movment when you look at that garden.
Have a wonderful weekend in the sunshine.
I am a monkey grass fanatic, thief, cultivator ...it begs to be dug up and divided and border everything..like in my yard. Your blog is so special Erin, thanks much , Gina
Great photographs and use of the theme! That's a beautiful plant!
The first shot is so beautiful. Love the bokeh on that one.
I have never heard of monkey grass either but if I ever get back ( quick prayer ) I will have to edge my garden with it. So lovely!
Speaking of repetition...your photos are wonderful again and again and again.
but I repeat myself....

I've never seen monkey grass before. You've really created a beautiful garden, Erin! And as always, lovely, lovely photos.
Happy weekend to you!

Well your liriope looks incredible!!! I have the kind that spreads( big blue) and though I still like it has taken over parts of the garden.
I always wondered how it got it's name... monkey grass...Doesn't look much like a monkey?? lol
gorgeous photos....
George loves your music btw
...and so do I.

Just lovely! It makes a grea border plant. So soft. Kit
Yours look great! I have 2 small patches, and they bloomed, but the blooms did not last long this year like it usually does. I'm feel sure the extreme heat for so long damaged it.
Have a great weekend.
Erin - that's really lovely! I love what you've done with your garden.
I am loving this monkey grass, and it grows very well here in East Tennessee. I think I will use it as liberally as you have, for it is quite lovely, especially in bloom.
How magical you make it look and sound, Erin! Just as I imagine Liriope to be. Mine unfortunately didn't make it in my woodland garden but you've inspired me to try again. Your property is amazing!! xo – g
Erin, lovely garden and images. You are smart to use the monkey grass for this theme. olive
