autumnal entry...

it sure is feeling like fall around here!! even the hackberry trees have been dropping some crunchy leaves around my house.

i am getting ready to head back to the beach, and i have been working really hard this week, to get my clients gardens put in order........although my body is aching in places that i'd rather not speak of...ahem.....

i thought it would be so nice to return to a very autumnal house....and so i pushed myself today.......when i should have been resting these old bones (did i just say that out loud?)....pushed myself..... to spiffy up the front and back porches.......

that is...after i spent the morning shopping for a new refrigerator! apparently the OLD one needs a new compressor and the vote is in....it is better to buy a brand new fridge than keep on repairing the old one.

why is stainless steel so much more expensive??? is it because that is what we all want? and we will fork out the money for it??

it is so unfair.

decorating my porches for fall is much more fun than buying a new fridge.
i added a black crow to the wreath that i made last year.

i found this lovely dried okra garland recently, which i absotootly adore!

but not as much as i am adoring my old screen door! the first thing i do in the morning, even before making the coffee, is open the front door, so the kitty's can lay in the morning sun. little miss daisy has gotten so used to this ritual, that now, if the door is not open, she will lay on her back in front of the door.....paws outstretched and pointing to the door. cats are soooo subtle.

the screen door gets me in trouble though......hubby comes home and mumbles something about having all the doors open with the air conditioner running....oops.

i need to remember to close the doors BEFORE he gets home.

i have had this wreath for at least 12 years and STILL love it. this year i hung it on an old door out back.

this is where we spend most of our time...

o.k that is it.....thanks so much for stopping by.....i just love when you come visit.....

by the way...i went for the stainless steel...it arrives tomorrow.

now...i could use your support on something.

i have heard that all appliances should match??

suddenly, my black dishwasher, stove and oven (which i thought looked so cool 10 years ago), well, they aren't going to look so good now sitting in the same room as my new stainless steel fridge.

am i right?

come on...we SUPPORT each other, right?

i just need to let my hubby know what all you smart bloggers think about this....

on another note...

a big shout out and lots of LOVE and PRAYERS to two of my favorite people.

my bestie jen (one of the most active people i know of), broke one foot and one ankle last week. she was jumping over some groceries...long story.

and Mr. lee (God love him) had a brain anurism.

both are doing spectacularly well!!

i love you guys!

You made me laugh talking about opening the screen door, i would sooooo do the same thing. As far as appliances, yeah, it'd probably be really cool if they all matched if you could afford it. The stainless steel is so pretty and shiny, i've been lusting after it too.
I love that big shaggy wreath, and i've never seen an okra garland, it's wonderful. I like that you keep your stuff and bring it out year after year...
How's painting going?

Your Fall decor looks great! I really need to get motivated and do more around here.
Stainless steel with black - Works for me.
I have done the same thing - a/c on and back door open. Gotta get the stale air out! :-D
Hope your friends have a fast and full recovery.

Oh sweetie it all looks so wonderful and I am so jealous. It was 99 AGAIN here today and I want fall....FALL FALL FALL.
as for the appliances I will not weigh in, I will get into trouble as I have in the past. It's like cars. I never talk cars either. Much too personal..NOW politics and religion? that I'll go to battle for. lol

you have great taste it'll be lovley..besides you do know appliances die in threes right? At least here they do/ and did! this year alone..my heater, water heater and now my dryer....so you may be buying more anyway...lol sorry :D

Love your decorations! The dried okra ... I am going to see if I still have any left in my garden tomorrow. I think my hubby cut it down :(
Always remember to close the doors before hubby comes home! LOL
I have stainless and love it! The only thing in my kitchen with any black is the dishwasher. When I need another one it will be stainless but it does match the stainless microwave with the black window so it's fine for now!
Have fun at the beach ... I know where you will be going! Take lots of pics!
Hugs,
Donna

It's all so purty! Your front porch looks beautiful. Well, usually I don't like matchy, matchy. But, with appliances, it's an exception. I think they should match.

Hi Erin,
Everything looks wonderful. I need to get my Fall decor going! Before you know it it'll be Christmas! Hahaha-I open the doors and forget about the air conditioning once in a while too, and my husband grumbles. Oh well.
Enjoy your new fridge! I don't know if everything needs to match.

Hi Erin, so sorry to hear about your friends' accident and aneurism but glad that they are both on the mend. Your porch is absolutely gorgeous! Love all the Fall touches. It was well about 100 here again today. I am so ready for a change in the weather. I'm tired of wearing summer clothes! Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy

Erin , your door has such a natural soft fall look. The okra garland is very you. Your cat at the screen door could not be any more wistful. My cat is grounded for fighting when I let him out yesterday. Enjoy the beach. hugs♥O

Oh darling erin,

It was so nice to see your comment because quite frankly, I thought no one would leave a comment on my technical difficulty post! After you put THOUGHT into a post and then lose it, and when you are forced to just slap up any old set of words and images, you or rather I TEND to think I did not give it my best. Oh, I am just tired. How do you all manage to make everything so beautiful?

Well, it is all lovely here at your post...enjoy a beautiful weekend, Anita

Well, first to get it out of the way, I'd want all my kitchen appliances to match too! Love the stainless steel too, and hate that it's so much more expensive, but so nice!
Your autumn porch and surroundings are so lovely! I can hear our air conditioner on now. It's still a little warm during the day to open all the doors & windows, but I had to laugh because I've done the same thing, I like to hear my fountains outside but forget to turn the air off before my husband comes home. LOL
Happy Autumn!

I just love the way you decorate every Fall. So natural and easy on the eye.
Congrats on the new fridge. We have a 20 yr old one that is on it's last leg.
I think it's ok to mix it up. I hate matchy matchy ANYTHING.

What a welcoming and cozy entrance you've created, Erin! Luv it all! AND your spectacular screen door! lol! (Mine? Mine is STILL leaning up against the front door....yeah....) Anyway, I have heard, too, that all appliance should match ~ from the decorators' point of view. I must say that I do agree. Though...I never was blessed enough to have all matching stainless steel...yet...I will someday. I adore the clean look of it. Tell your hubby "YES, all the bloggers agree!" lol!

You are giving me lots of inspiration! I love the white pumpkins, stacked pumpkins and birds ... the nest ... love it all Erin!

I think it depends on where the appliances are. My mom's don't match but you don't notice because of where they are. :)

Your Porch looks Lovely for an Autumn Vibe. As for matching appliances, guess I'm the wrong one to ask, nothing in our Old Home matches & we're totally okay with that... I'd say if it bothers YOU then change it, if not, why bother. I typically keep an appliance 'til it don't work no more! *winks* They're just too expensive to keep swapping out for decor changes... perhaps appliance paint might be an alternative if you could find one that you think goes with your new Stainless piece?

Where to begin... I love your screen door and the little blackbird atop the pumpkins... where did you get him? It took me a long time to get use to white pumpkins, When I moved to Tennessee from Colorado, 20 years back, I couldn't believe that the pumpkins were white and a pale orange... I REALLY hated them! Now, I am rather fond of them and grow the whiteys in my garden.
As for the appliances. I used to have all black. Then the fridge died a slow death and we replaced it with a white one... that made the black stove seem out of place and we purchased a WHITE, chrome and black stove. Now the black sink looks weird so we purchased an OLD white farm sink... We just ditched the black dishwasher, ( I wash by hand) and finally, it all came together. I guess you know where I am going with all this. REPLACE EVERYTHING!
