drive through the country...

day four.
snowfest 2011 continues...
as the kids of all ages, continue to sled down the hill, til ALL hours of the day and night......

mr. dan and i took a drive down our favorite country roads..... i thought you might enjoy seeing the beauty that lies less than two miles from my home.
Old Natchez trace and Moran Road are just right around the corner from my neighborhood.

the scenic Harpeth River borders on one side...
be still my heart! check out those amazing reflections on this peaceful day. aaahhhh....

there are old plantations mixed in with newer horse ranches on the other side.
Jimmy Buffet used to live in this home, now occupied by Kim Karnes (think "Betty Davis Eyes" fame). can't you just picture a young lady in a hoop skirt and parasol walking in this yard years ago?

an all white farm house surrounded by all white snow is just MAGIC to my eyes.

turning down Moran Road, open acreage is framed and divided by gorgeous farm fences and what we call "slave walls". rock walls created by slaves back in the day.

this was Alan Jackson's home that he recently sold for 23 million. ahem. i'll take two please.
i hope you enjoyed my little drive in the country.
mr. sunshine is all glowy today, but it is still freezing. i know many of you are ready for the snow to go away....
especially mommies of house bound kiddos? mr. dan and i are getting a little bit tired of the constant traffic on our street and through our yard and gardens. our mailbox was even hit by the sheriff's car. the sledders and partiers cut through our yard to access the hill. the constant sound of fourwheelers hauling sledders to the top (till all hours) is becoming old. not to mention the debris left behind by some not-so-considerate partiers (broken sleds and rafts, empty cans and a wine bottle). don't get me wrong...I LOVE SNOW!
but our SNOWFEST
is becoming more of a SNOWTEST.
ooo
oooo
perhaps i need to take another drive...

Tried to think of a "new" descriptive word... but MAGICAL just seems to be THE most appropriate one for these scenes. So beautiful, well-captured and well-presented.

Still. Glad to be able to enjoy the snowy pics from a warmer, snowless clime.

Love these photos! That is beautiful country with or without snow. Jackson finally sold his "estate" did he? :D
Yes - I think the traffic thru your yard would get old real fast, and you probably won't know how much damage is done until all the snow is gone. Sheriff's dept repaired your mailbox, I hope.
Stay warm!

Wow, sorry about the partying sledders! Our neighborhood in the Bubble is F L A T! All we can manage are a few snowball fights. I am glad it has lasted this long. Beautiful photos.

Absolutely stunning series, Erin! Thanks for the tour. I'm one of those ready for a break from the snow, mostly because I'm stuck in the house and can't get out shooting on the back roads where all the beauty is. Maybe tomorrow.

We used to drive around the "country" when we lived there and show visitors the stars homes. :-) I'm not sure we did it in the snow. Nashvillians seemed to go nuts when it snowed back then. I seem to remember ice many times. And on those narrow windy, although beautiful roads. Whew. I've got my slider door open today. Just saying. . . ;-)

Erin your pictures are so beautiful, I love love the one of the river, just breath-taking! I love going for drives and your neck of the woods look perfect to drive through! Love that Jimmy Buffett used to live there, he is one my favorites! Thank you for taking us along and I look forward to more drives with you! :)

Magnificent images, Erin! I can understand how all the noise becomes distracting. At least when it's gone you'll have the beautiful memories captured in these images. xo – g

Dearest Erin, YOU have captured my heart once again. Snow is something that many people dread, but you give it the color of GRANDEUR and only YOU can make a rusty part of a fence look like a PIECE OF ART...You are most definitely a blogger that I am highlighting this weekend....more details as I get my post up. LOVE TO YOU! Anita

Absolutly beautiful pictures Erin!!! You are so blessed to have nearby such beautiful scenery. I live in the inner suburbs of a big city and it's quite a trip to get scenery like that. I guess I could just walk over to campus and get some good shots, but it's so cold, who wants to go outside on their lunch break? Not me ~ maybe next snow.
Glad you're still seeing the beauty in your snow. Maybe it will melt soon and the sledders will go home. Another storm coming in for us today. Our snow probably won't be going anywhere until March. Have a nice weekend and hope it warms up for you soon.

These photos are so beautiful Erin, so dream like and quiet. They almost don't seem real they are so beautiful! I've never been in a lovely snow scene like that before, so it's almost surreal to me! I'm sure you understand from knowing your friend Suzan that lives where I do! Thank you for sharing such inspiring photos!

I think you have one of the most beautiful blogs ever!I also think you live in one of the most beautiful towns ever! Franklin is one of my favs, I visit at least once a year to show our cutting horses and then I think of other excuses to stop by too. Enjoy the snow but I am sure you think it's time to for it to go.

HI Erin
Well this all looks so beautiful.. how wonderful to be surrounded by snow!!! It's so picturesque...

We've been having rain and rain and rain and you may have heard much of my country has suffered severe flooding.. greatest natural disaster in Australia.. Luckily I am no where near the affected areas but just heartbreaking to see it on the news .. blogs etc..

Mother Nature .. she can sure create both beauty and disaster.. ciao xxx Julie

ERIN!!!! OOOOOOOOOO I AM SO HAPPY to see some of my pals have come to see you! I knew they would love your world as I DO! Oh Erin, you should see the paint for our walls! It is Behr paint FROST white. The wood work will be a soft clay gray and it is PERFECT for snowy days as well as I am sure it will be refreshing for hot summer days. THANK YOU FOR ENTERING INTO MY BLOG WORLD; you are the inspiration indeed!!! Have a brilliant week!!! Anita
