bringing blues and greens inside...

inspired by the gorgeous blue hydrangeas fixin to bloom right now...
yes, we southerners say "fixin"...
i have brought in more blues and summer greens
 into my neutral based den.

i started with this awesome map of tennessee that mr. dan found for me
(like i often tell him, he is "almost done with his training"...we will celebrate our 32nd anniversary this week)

i love this map soooo very much!
i love mr. dan too.

these vintage chalkware chickens, found recently at a tag sale,
were a real find and i was thrilled to pay only $20 for the set of 4!!

a couple of cute shabby chic type lamps bring a subtle light to the mantle...

cute, but not quite there.....

o.k....the addition of the old globe...

darling bee garland...

a turquoise jug collecting our wine corks...
(drinking an occasional glass of wine can contribute to a good marriage)...
and an old ice cream bucket...

filled with bishops weed flowers...

clipped from my front garden, growing right there along the side walk....

i love bishops weed...
also called snow-on-the-mountain...
it can be invasive, but my sidewalk keeps it from spreading and i love how it looks similar to queen annes lace.

now i am liking this...

a couple of old doilies...

and funky candle holders holding old aqua insulators...

vintage blankets to soften the corners of the couch in pretty blue and green...

and there are the endless summer hydrangeas,
right outside the window,
ready to put on there show.
nature inspires!

this week, i finished the last of the big plantings for my clients (until fall)...
yippie skippie!!

and i am so very relieved and jazzed...
i feel like joining a couple of blog parties
at
 shabby creek cottage
and
debra @ common ground
and
http://farmhouseporch.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-scoop-link-party-decor-and-so-much.html
btw...this is what my winter mantel looked like before the summer blues and greens,
right after i painted the stone, with a wash of annie sloane paint..
read about that
here.

this is one of my most pinned photos ever.

have a great weekend!

Your summer mantel is decorated in the perfect hues to cool you off after gardening in the sun! You've trained your hubby well to find you that awsome map! The chalkware chickens are pretty adorable, too.

Thanks for inspiring, Erin!

Happy anniversary. It is all so beautiful. I love the whites, the turquoises, and green. The globe and map colors are so pretty. Love the glass and the bee garland. Now, I want to find an Arizona map that is not tan.

Dear Erin - congratulations on your 32nd anniversary. That Mr. Dan is certainly a lucky guy and I bet you are a lucky girl as well. Love your calming blues and greens. Your home, art and gardens always inspire. May God bless you and Dan with another wonderful 32 years. Have a great day.

Oh man... your guy did great getting that awesome map for you!!! He IS almost through with his training! I love maps, and globes... all the blues look so pretty together. I'm so glad you told me what that little plant was. I have some in my garden, and I loved the look of it, but it did try to take over, so I had to yank a lot out. I will try it in a controlled area, because it really is so sweet and airy like lace.

Such beautiful photos Erin! Love the touches of bluish-aqua and how they bring life to the room. Your map of Tennessee is just gorgeous.
Well - I finally know now the name of my invasive weed that had taken over my all my gardens and I can never get control of. I do love it's pretty bloom, but honestly, until this year, I didn't have any appreciation for it because I am always in a fight with it for control of my gardens. It wasn't until my sister mentioned it looks like Queen Anne's lace that I stopped long enough to enjoy it's beauty. Now I have a name to put with my love/hate relationship with this plant.

I LOVE the Tennessee map!! The globe is the perfect finishing touch. I bought a globe last week at a garage sale in Missouri for $1. I don't LOVE the base, but it will do for $1. What a steal for those Chalkware chickens. Did you just grab them and run to the checkout? I would've. In fact, I went exactly when the garage sale started because they had 4 globes. I got there and 2 were already gone. No fair! I'm thinking about adding some maps to a hallway. I have to mull it over for awhile.
Hugs,
Karen

This post is so full of beauty Erin! You have created such a lovely calm feeling in your home. I wanted to jump into my computer screen and sit there on your sofa...or better yet, take a nap. You have so many interesting and lovely things to look at that I really don't think I would get much napping done :)
sending hugs from here...

Darling erin,

YOUR HOME belongs in a magazine, which I'm sure it already has! But I love what you said about your "neutral" décor....I read that on a blog a couple of days ago that also showed stunning and very attractive photos of a room that made me wonder, "How do they get that peaceful look?" But it is the neutrals that serve as a backdrop for that one highlighting color. You are the queen of aquas, that is for SURE!

Thank you for coming to visit; it was so nice to see you again! I am working hard to get my camera to see what I SEE, and it's not always easy for both camera and human to agree eye-to-lens, at least not for these fingers of mine!!!!!!

HUGS TO YOU! Anita

Dear Erin,
A belated happy Anniversary! This is one of my favorite posts... so pretty!
Now I thought that was Queen Ann's lace in front of your beautiful home.
You have such a special touch with just about everything Erin.. Your paintings, decorating your beautiful home, and must not forget your landscaping for your clients.

Thank you for your comment on my sketch.. You really think so? I am thinking I need more practice with the colored pencils, but thank you so much.
blessings,
Penny

It is all wonderful, but I have to say that little garland of bees is so stinkin' cute. I need to find, or maybe make one.

Hi Erin!
I have been to Franklin...Maury Regional Medical Center used to be my customer when I covered TN for my "other job"...I am a farmer only in my spare time! Always thought I'd love to settle in TN because of the gorgeous scenery... and no state tax! Somehow, I made my way to SC and am here to stay on my little piece of heaven I call Le Farm. I love your blue map of TN on the mantle. Blue is the signature color I have used here on Le Farm, as well. It is very "French", oui? I look forward to following your blog.
Au revoir!
