Rainey Evening Cocktails...

We had the most wonderful rain last night...the kind that cools you off and slows you down...

my hubby and I had martinis on the back porch and watched the delicious rain... I'd like to tell you we listened to it too, but we chose music instead. Old Eric Clapton tunes, which reminded us of our very first apartment. So long ago...

I've worked very hard at a client's property this week, getting her ready for an engagement party...

this rain was just what I needed...

so relaxing...

peaceful...sweet smelling...

a relief from the oppressive heat...

an excuse to sit...

enjoy my own backyard...

the sun appeared briefly, before the really strong storms moved in. A really wonderful evening spent with my best friend. Thank you babe.

It's Here.......... Summer That Is!

Thank you, Artie over at Color Outside the Lines, for another Share A Garden Sunday!
Happy First Day of Summer! Father's Day too! I love you Dad and Hubby!

Let's take a stroll through my garden............. a slow stroll, as it's going to be a hot one!

Purple cone flowers and "endless summer" hydrangeas are looking good.

Verbena bonariensis towers over all others.

ahh........zebra grass, aptly named.

I found these gorgeous mushrooms growing on an old stump...beautful placement, Mother Nature, thank you for this gift.

purple cone flower backed by a calla leaf.

the tree has embraced this fallen birdhouse...it is nestled in nicely and seems to be part of the tree now.

can't beat fresh tomatoes and basil in summer! mmmm.... get the mozzarella and balsamic ready.

lilies are the show stoppers out front right now.
thanks for strolling with me!
it's going to be a long, hot summer....
please take time to smell the flowers!

"New Dawn" Rose Love...

New Dawn Rose in my backyard... I love this climbing rose. It is easy to grow and a fast climber. I never have to spray it and the thorns are'nt bad. I love the light pink soft color and heady fragrance. One of my favorite plants!! Yummy!!

These New Dawn Roses are blooming at L's Garden just in time for a wedding shower that she is hosting this weekend!

These New Dawn Roses were spotted at a garden that was "on tour" this past weekend. I just had to share them with you. Adorable miniature table and chairs, I suppose for the grandkids?

and roses on the fence by the pool!

These New Dawn Roses were climbing up the Pool House at a different garden on the tour... fabulous!

How cute are these gals on the tour with their boots on!! They were going to need those boots too, because we got back on the tour bus and the heavens opened up.............poured down rain for the rest of the day!
