i don't do formal new years resolutions......
but i do switch gears now from gardener to artist......
as the holiday bits and bobs get tucked away,
the junk from 2010 hidden...
my studio cleared of all unessentials.
blank canvases waiting.
older paintings too, that i will be revisiting and finishing.
paintings, that i told my songwriter friend, were "my bad paintings".
he told me something that really struck a chord with me.......
he said,
"they aren't BAD paintings,
they just aren't FINISHED."
a good way to look at life in general,
i think.
perhaps something you have deemed "bad"
is not bad at all....
but just "not finished"?
mmmmmmm
jjjjjj
i look forward to
finishing lots of things in the new year.
how about you??
mmmm
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Looks like I'm starting new things this next year. We put an offer on a new house today. YIKES!
ReplyDeleteI don't do "New Years Resolutions" as such, either, though maybe I should. I would, however, just love to have the courage to come out of my shell and take photos of 100 strangers, where I meet and talk with them and find out a little about them. That is VERY VERY difficult for me, but I'm going to try. I've been promising myself I would do that "someday" for a long time. That is something I need to finish.
ReplyDeleteHave a healthy, prosperous, Happy New Year!

Sounds perfect Erin.
ReplyDeleteHmm... maybe a New Years project ... organizing or REorganizing my art supplies. Good thought.
Happy New Year!
I have a friend who has been working on a painting of horses for at least 25 years. She says she just can't seem to get it right. I would like to actually start many projects twirling round in my head. Organizing is top of the list too. It's just getting started. Wishing you and yours a healthy, happy new year. Tammy

Happy New Year Erin! No resolutions for me either this year... just going to continue to enjoy the journey, maybe clean my house and plan! Can't wait to see what you share with the world. Hope to see you soon!
ReplyDeleteOh Erin, YOU AND ME BOTH....WHITE AND AQUA/TURQUOISE! I cannot get enough of this color....I have always loved peridot green, and for certain things, it is the right color. BUT THIS SHADE OF BLUE JUST CONNOTES HAPPINESS! And I am surrounding myself with it all year long!
ReplyDeleteMeeting you has been a huge blessing to me dearest. I know that I will be enchanted all year round as I step into your world. Peace to you on this fine start to a new beginning!!!! Anita
Being an artist myself, I am captivated by these photos of your canvas('s) and art supplies...makes me want to paint.

These are such wise words, Erin. It's so true – concentrating on finishing projects results in so much accomplishment, peace of mind and satisfaction. I'm trying hard not to start a lot of new ones myself right now.
ReplyDeleteVery happy to have met you, too, and can't wait to see your new/old paintings! I'm certain so many good things are headed your way for 2011!

Great Blog!!! Just stopping by to say Hi.... Doing a family tree and it seems like we come from Franklin, TN. My great great grandfather was George Dazey Hill married to Dollie Long.
ReplyDeleteCould I create as you do, I'd probably do nothing else. That would be quite enough for me.
