I am joining Anne Marie at http://nadafarmlife.blogspot.com/search?q= for Black and White Sunday...let's take a look at a local landmark...
Historic Carnton Plantation, here in Franklin Tn. was built in 1826.
This home was used as a Civil War Hospital after "the bloodiest battle" of the Civil War.
Historic Carnton Plantation, here in Franklin Tn. was built in 1826.
This home was used as a Civil War Hospital after "the bloodiest battle" of the Civil War.
The home and grounds are open to the public and used for events and concerts.
It is a beautiful place, with a gritty history.
Many dead soldiers were layed out on these porches.
including four Confederate Generals.
the gardens are being renovated by Master Gardeners.
you can certainly feel the history here...
this lone tree really captures the austere beauty and melancholy of these historic grounds.......for more information go to http://www.carnton.org/history.htm
to change any photo to a "vintagey" look, check out this free website...

those are fantastic! love the history about them all......they have so much more meaning when you hear the 'artists' comments on their own photography........
ReplyDeletethanks for joining in!

ReplyDeleteHi Erin,
ReplyDeleteWonderful images. Would love to visit tha Plantation in person someday.
You have an eye for b and w. I realized afterwards that the vintage looking building wasn't from an old photograph but that you converted from the site you mentioned. Thanks for the link. I think I like it better then the photoscape one I use.
Enjoy your Sunday,
Carole
Just beautiful, and so evocative of times gone by.
