softer...

as the air outside becomes chilled,
and my gardening chores dwindle,
i turn my attention to my softer side indoors
and my goals for the winter....

LEARN.
CREATE.
SHARE.
paint. paint. paint.
i may not be spending as much time "commenting around" on blogs,
as my valuable moments will be, should be, spent painting.
how can i expect to be a good artist, if i am not painting?
some of my "blogging around" is a form of avoidance.
the blank canvas can be terrifying.
the self doubt even worse.
friends, please know, i very much appreciate you visiting me and i LOVE your comments.
i read every single one of them and come to your blogs.
but, as in my "real" life...i don't talk to even my best of friends on a daily basis...some not even weekly/monthly!
that doesn't mean the LOVE isn't there.......
please know, i totally value your time spent here so so much!
thank you.
thank you.
thank you,
erin elizabeth

dragon wing begonia...

i have been very busy putting my gardens to bed for the winter...
with an impending deep frost in a couple of days,
i went to one of my clients gardens with full intention of pulling up the
dragon wing begonias.........

i just couldn't do it.
out of respect.
they are too beautiful.
the frost will have to nip them
before i do.
these gems have been gorgeous all summer long,
and even now in november,
they make my heart sing.....
note to self...
DRAGON WING BEGONIA'S
did really well this year.
plant lots more of these
next spring!
all photos taken today, NOVEMBER 2nd!!!
wow...
enjoy these days
while you can, my friends.

trees...

TREES
by: Joyce Kilmer (1886-1918)

I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

please say
NO
to receipts at ATM's and gas pumps!
all of that paper for the receipts comes from
TREES!
beautiful trees.....
i did some research and could not find consistent statistics (try saying that 5 times fast),
but one thing is for sure.......
the statistics are staggering.
there are something like 8 billion ATM transactions a year!
which adds up to a roll of paper more than 2 billion feet long,
or enough to circle the globe 15 times!
you really don't need that receipt.
save the paper=save the trees=reduce waste.
for more ideas of how we can create change.
