we grieve.

 and oh we grieve...
 we ache...
 we fear...
 we doubt...
 we curse...
 we question...
oh, how we question...
 but,
in the hazy distance....
there is this flicker.
we KNOW it is there...we don't want to look, but we can't help ourselves...it seems so out of focus right now....
 but it IS there.
 this flicker.
 this light.
 this luminosity.
 this LOVE.
 HIS love.
 HIS big huge LOVE.
and we know it.
and we trust in it.
and we LOVE in it.
and we rest in it.

i pray that we open the church in our hearts,
and grieve and pray and search out the little flicker of light,
for all the little students and teachers of the world.

happy december!

i have been decorating away at my humble abode...

the vintage ornament tree on the screen, is something i put together after being inspired by a similar idea i saw on pinterest....i simply wired old ornies onto a compost sifter screen that i pulled in from the garden...i love the look and it was so easy to do.

here is just a hint of what is going on at my home....
lots of whites and neutrals and a nod towards vintage...with just a touch of blue here and there...

i snapped this picture of santa, two years ago at the dickens of christmas celebration here in franklin, tn....i am looking forward to this years dickens celebration, as i will be meeting a fellow blogger there....
i made the "believe" sign by twisting some raffia covered wire.
a glorious time of year, indeedy....
as we decorate and prepare our homes
for celebration
 in honor of Him.

i will be sharing many more images in the next few weeks....
thank you so much for stopping by.

giving thanks

 so very thankful
for the warm
 glow of love
 from my god
my family
and
my friends
it envelopes me like a fuzzy blanket.

my old friend, steve made this awesome harvest table for me, with old barnwood that i had found.
and mr. dan sanded it.
THANK YOU.
love it!
my new friends, esli and david pelly, of pelly farms in kentucky,
searched their 3rd generation farm sheds and found these cool - old - black - boy scout folding chairs for me....david's dad was the boy scout leader.
david even power washed them for me!
perfect, PERFECT sitting around the table!
each one of them DIFFERENT than the other...which i love.
boy scouts sat on these back in the fifties and sixties.....and then they were stored away and forgotten about until i mentioned to esli that i was looking for old folding chairs....
i just hit them with some clear spray sealer....and some  earl  oil, so they fold up without a sound.

more than just a harvest table and folding chairs.
CONNECTIONS
to wonderful people.

giving thanks.
indeed.

my heart is full.

we will be traveling to my daughter and son-in-laws home in mississippi....their very first thanksgiving meal in their new home....served on the very same family table we handed down to them.... that was handed down to us....family.... traditions ....connections...breaking bread together....love.....it is all so important.....
and i am so very thankful.

may you have a blessed thanksgiving
