last play of light

well, we finally have a slight relief from the heat and humidity here.

funny how, down to 90 degrees is a relief?

compared to 100...i'll take it!

after playing in the garden last evening and while hubby was away...

i finally hung some white curtain panels on my back porch.

i have been dying to do this, but was wishy washy about which type of curtain rod to use. i thought i might use a branch and clips, but i settled on twine and clothespins and i love the casual look, plus it will be easy to take them down for laundering.

enjoying the ever so slightly cooler evening

and admiring my new soft envelope of curtains

i played with my camera...

as the sun played its last,

light and shadow game

of the day.

What a beautiful spot to sit and contemplate. I've been thinking about adding curtains to my pergola when the weather gets warmer here. After seeing this I will definitely give it a go!

Hi Erin! I just love your curtains and how you've hung them! So glad you posted this... it gives me some ideas! I've been wanting to hang curtains on my pergola but thought it would be so complicated, but you have made this so simple. You are so creative! I like the branch idea too. May try this out. Enjoy the nice not-so-hot weather.

I do like the curtains! What a nice setting - very pretty!! How do they stand up to wind and rain? Yes!! We were down to 90 today also and low humidity!! Made a big difference! I left home mid morning and did not return til almost 5:30, went back stayed outside and talked with neighbors. I noticed the air was more clear today also.
Enjoy your week.

The curtains on your porch make it so enchanting and dreamy! Wonderful! Our only relief is at night when the low temperature is 95. :/ Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday. Tammy

You know I luv ya..but stop bragging about the cool breezes and rain would ya please? ; -0 We're all still sweltering here. 108 today

My white, ( well, used to be white) curtains on my patio are now dusty, a home for spideys and crunchy from three months of misery.

Yours are whispy and clean and the porch is oh so inviting with the lights and canopy of green.

So now I have to go take mine down and wash them, or the guilt will nag at me until I do. so thanks? hehe I have metal ceilings and did not want to drill so I have tension rods and those clip ring things so they can S L I D E across easily. I like yours better....

So, now I don't like my curtains, and I have added chores to my day..anything else you want to show me? Good heavens if your car is clean and shiny, I'll have to rethink this friendship.....

I am coveting your porch. I love it!!!! Beautiful.

Please go out and enjoy it as soon as you get this message! Take your ice cold beverage and Go!
Go and sit and breathe deeply and do the smiling meditation ...

So cute with the pegs. I love the way this looks. Chic, yet not overdone. I'm so tired of people styling things to the max and losing the comfort of things. This is perfect. x
